Loss of typed characters during the insertion of tags

Description
When entering text in search fields or tag boxes, about 5-10% of the key presses are lost/dropped. I have the impression it has to do with the fact that LD searches the tag list while I type. This seems to cause an overload and resulting in dropouts.
