Hiding extension in {filename} field

Description
After updating to 7.7, {title} field has been removed and replaced by already existing {filanename} field.
Users noticed that the file extension (i.e. .DOC) is always shown in the field and it must be preserved to avoid problems when opening the files.
I think that it will be better if the file extension is not easily visible/changeable by the users and even not shown in grids.

That's clear,
IMHO it can generate problems. I suggest to implement an option to configure the visibility of filname extenions (maybe a user-level preference).

The change of this behavior was clearly stated in the update notes and was implemented because the visualization of the extension in all the conditions is an explicit request of the majority or our customers. Hereafter you can only count on the file name, and it will be the only name to identify a document among the different interfaces (web, mobile, addins).
